- Elementary grades, self-expressive therapy groups for ages 5+ through pre-teen: Modalities include problem-solving through the
use of play therapy and specific toys and games that promote team building.
Good choice for
those with ADHD, Asperger's, depression/anxiety, school or family stress,
low-self-esteem
or low self-confidence, or problems regulating anger.
- Middle school groups help
young people to understand such pressures as relational aggression,
develop self-esteem
and proper assertiveness, make good choices, become
aware of healthy relationships, and have a well-rounded life
outside of Internet drama. School success always a prime focus.
Modalities include talk therapy, group exercises, book discussions,
art,
and self-expressive
games. Co-Ed group has more hands-on, kinesthetic activities.
Improves coping for anxiety, low mood, ADHD, low self-esteem,
low frustration tolerance, and more.
- High school group deals with school
stress, life balance, family pressures, developing self as
well as future outlook with college/career
choices. Testing for occupational interests and personality traits (at additional cost)
helps students choose electives and college majors, appropriate
to their learning style. Such help often improves college
retention rates and collegiate success!
Girls with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Asperger's or those who are unsure
of themselves for a variety of reasons can benefit
from either of these girl's groups.
- Groups for kids whose parents have separated, divorced,
remaried and formed stepfamilies help normalize these
situations. Ms. Oberlin creates a curriculum to help kids make sense of their emotions
and experiences using music, arts & crafts, journaling, board games, and more. Offered as needed.
If you need help
and would like to schedule an appointment to discuss being
a part of a group, contact Loriann Oberlin, LCPC with dates and times of your availability. An intake appointment to screen/assess
each potential member must be made, and possible follow-up
appointments may be necessary before group participation.
Rates vary according
to payment plan selected. Insurance benefits will typically
cover group therapy.
Individuals are responsible for co-pays, co-insurance, and
additional testing/art materials expenses.
Ms. Oberlin is a member of the American Counseling Association as well as the
American Group Psychotherapy Association. She has attended continuing
education for group leadership, adolescent groups, ethics and
social media as they apply to the group counseling setting.
