Children’s Divorce Support Groups promote self-esteem, understanding and acceptance of the changes in families. Working out feelings in a group, children have fun playing therapeutic games, doing arts and crafts, journaling and listening to music that sparks ideas to talk about with a trained professional.

Loriann Oberlin, MS earned her master’s in clinical counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She has experienced separation, divorce, single parenting, remarriage and formed a stepfamily of her own. Oberlin co-wrote The Angry Child and Overcoming Passive-Aggression – about hidden anger. She’s also the author of Surviving Separation & Divorce and a former contributing expert on iVillage and oxygen.com. She's been interviewed on divorce by USA Today and Revolution Health and Divorce 360 websites.

Adult Lunchtime & Evening Groups offer flexibility around your schedule. If you live/work in Gaithersburg or Rockville and child care poses a challenge, meeting mid-day with other adults provides both an educational component and discussion about stress, anger management, self-esteem, ending and enabling abuse, setting boundaries, coping with friends, family, jobs, finances, and legal matters. This group can help you discover new directions and lift lonely burdens.

In this era of rising costs, many couples going their separate ways choose Divorce Mediation over litigious and contentious court battles. You will see and feel many positive outcomes, including lower costs, fewer risks to self-esteem and mental/physical health not to mention much less anger than couples see in the adversarial legal system. Family court finds few friends or fans.

In mediation, we focus on divorce concerns and create a parenting plan so that each of you feels you can be the best, most active parent possible. We focus less on the past and more on the future.

If you’d like to schedule an appointment, please contact Ms. Oberlin. Fees depend upon the services needed and chosen. For children, please mention ages, gender, and grade currently enrolled at school.
